My time in China. Hangzhou New Century Foreign Language School via Haida agency

I had the most amazing experience in China. I taught at a private boarding school in central Hangzhou (a 10 minute walk from West Lake- the most famous area of Hangzhou) with excellent facilities. The kids were amazing, and it was obvious the teachers cared a lot about their education. Classes were tough to begin with as I had zero previous teaching experience but once you’re thrown in a classroom of fourteen 7-year-old kids and mostly left to your own devices, you quickly learn! I only had to teach 12 40-minute lessons per week which only involved three lesson plans…

My China Experience in Hangzhou, Haida review.

Hey Everyone, I’m writing this for my girlfriend and I who spent a year in Hangzhou working for Greentown Yuhua School via the Haida agency. I’ve put it into sections which I hope is helpful. Hangzhou specifically, China generally: Great (frequently weird, in a good way) Greentown Yuhua School: The middle school was great, the kindergarten not so much (more detail below). I would describe my first week in China as ‘dangerously interesting’. When I say that now, it was a learning curve for me. But when I first came, I had difficulties in terms my contract with my…

Hangzhou Tourism Vocational College (Binjiang Campus), Hangzhou, Zhejiang

Facilities: Generally pretty good.  There are interactive white boards (although sometimes they work, sometimes not), but I tend just to stick with using the technology for projecting photos as I’m always very wary of death by powerpoint.  The school printer is available and functioning, and I have a desk in one of the teaching offices.  The school has a canteen which is relatively cheap to eat at, although I’m a fairly fussy eater and usually go for a bit more choice in the centre of the neighbourhood (15 minute walk). Location: I am a short walk from the local shops, the nearest…
